[It's not really surprising that everyone's kind of jumpy after all that, especially the blind folks, and Subete comes into the kitchen with his hands up (uselessly), smiling guilelessly (also uselessly) and with his own bundle of things that he's bringing in for one reason or another. There's also a sigh of relief at being able to find the kitchen. It's still easier to find than some other locations, but also.
He probably spent a few hours hoping to catch hide nor hair of shiny chrome and counters.
Anyway:]
... Uh, is something going on? The water is steaming and getting everywhere.
[Presumably because blind people washing their hands is an adventure.]
[The stiffness to his shoulders relaxes slightly. He goes back to washing. It's at least not horrific........once he gets his hands under the water like he's supposed to.]
I'm trying to get the blood off. It was corpse blood. It can give you corpse poisoning depending on the corpse.
[He'll just... give him a bit of a berth while he uses the sink. He was actually going to wash up too, even though he got away without blood and without any other sorts of substances; he just has a handkerchief that's seen too many leftover apple cores and a few too many memories of rats scurrying around over the books he's been carting around today.
You really can never be too careful, no matter what the staff says about the rats' state of health and no matter how much they can talk. Seeing Nikki in her state has really driven that home.]
Corpse blood -- Tenoh-san's blood? It's probably still safer than anything from Nikki-san, but it seems like Nikki-san succeeded in poisoning her somehow with whatever abilities she and the rats shared. So it's certainly better safe than sorry.
I think I heard you and Nie Huaisang-san talking about corpse poisoning during the trial, though. That's something a little different, isn't it?
[The warm water and soap feel pretty reassuring, though. He can’t tell if he gets anything off, so he just scrubs and scalds until his arms are a but red and feel raw. Ayabe would be proud. Longer than 20 seconds!]
We could get poisoned from a corpse, but it hadn’t reanimated... The other girl acts like a fierce corpse without even being dead. She’s not decaying, so it isn’t corpse poisoning. But she’s sick.
[He really can't argue that!! All of this is extremely terrible to the point where he's kind of at a loss for words!! And that's saying something.
Anyway he'll just be over here watching in mild concern as Jin Ling tries to boil himself slightly -- he's not going to turn off the water for him but he does reach out to turn up the cold water a little bit.]
I think it makes things worse if you wash too hard or mess up your skin too much. You don't need to become a lobster, I'm pretty sure. [not like he knows corpse poisoning or whether soap is even effective against what sounds like literal zombies but you work with what you've got] Ah, I don't know how close the case was to -- your fierce corpses. But rats generally carry disease already, and this house did change all of us in some way this week.
